Shannan Perry

Shannan is the Business Manager, Destination Development with the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC), where she is responsible for generating significant new and refreshed sustainable tourism product and infrastructure in South Australia.

Prior to this, Shannan worked in product development roles focusing on Nature-based Tourism and marketing and communications for niche tourism operations.

Shannan has a Bachelor of Cultural Tourism (honours) degree. Her thesis focused on sustainable options for existing tourism businesses, exploring the changes existing (opposed to new and emerging) businesses could make to become more environmentally, culturally and economically sustainable.

She has played a key role in the delivery of the Inaugural 2008 National Conference on Green Travel, Climate Change and Ecotourism and the Climate Action Australia Certification Program – Shannan is a member of both EA steering committees.

Shannan has worked with the Kangaroo Island, Murray River Tri State and Flinders Ranges regions of SA in the development of these areas as ‘National Landscapes’. The Flinders Ranges was recently gazetted as a National Landscape.

She is a member of the Tourism and Protected Areas Forum. She also plays a key role in fostering a productive and dynamic relationship between the SATC and the South Australian Department for Environment and Heritage under the terms of an interagency memorandum of understanding. Shannan has also been responsible for a number of tourism guides, including the ‘Riesling Trail Product and Services Guide’.

During her tourism career, Shannan has contributed significantly to the South Australian tourism industry and has earned the respect of her colleagues. She prides herself on her enthusiasm and drive to achieve results and her ability to work well with others.
