Gluepot Reserve is Australia's largest community managed and operated conservation reserve and is run entirely by volunteers. It is part of the largest block of intact mallee left in Australia and so the viability of threatened bird populations and other flora and fauna is high. Some 54,000 ha is size, it is home to 18 nationally threatened species of birds, 53 species of reptiles and 12 species of bats, some of which are nationally threatened. By successfully combining the elements of biodiversity conservation through land management, scientific research and monitoring, environmental education and sustainable ecotourism, Gluepot Reserve has taken conservation management into a new era. The 4½ hour morning tour starts in Horseshoe Bay with full instruction and safety brief, before paddling to one of the island’s northern bays where they go ashore for a tropical breakfast, learn about the history, ecology, aboriginal history of the island, local wildlife seen and geology of the area before continuing the guided tour back to Horseshoe Bay.
The 2 hour sunset tour takes a relaxed paddle around Horseshoe Bay and out to the point before drifting back over coral gardens and sea grass beds looking for turtles, before stopping for drinks and watch the sun go down.
Various group options are available for schools, organisations and individuals.
Experienced paddlers can rent kayaks to explore the island on their own.

From the beginning the property was planned to be self perpetuating. All storm water from the roofs is channelled into gravel pits and returns to the water table instead of running off into gutters. Features of the natives planted are the ability to stabilize the soil, drought tolerance, food sources and growth cycles that ensure continuity of life. By providing shelter for insects, birds and animals we are kick starting the natural rhythm of life again.
To continue on this line of thinking we stock only recycled toilet paper, organic aloe vera soap, and environmentally friendly "detergents" in our properties. In cleaning our properties we use colloidal cleaning products – the most friendly cleaning products available. We encourage our guests to recycle where possible, and to use our compost bags for their fruit and vegetable scraps so we can feed our earth!

Coober Pedy is the largest opal producing centre in Australia. The field is situated in the Stuart Range nearly 1000 km north of Adelaide.
An original opal mine dating back to 1916, the old time miners had backfilled the shafts, hiding the mine below. Who knows why they never returned to dig out the opal still waiting. It wasn´t untill 1968 that the hidden mine was accidentally discovered when an underground home extension broke through, revealing much precious opal which is still there for you to see today.
