Hitesh is a Landscape Architect, Environmental Planner
and Architect at EDSA, a Landscape Architecture and Planning
firm based out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. EDSA is the largest
ecotourism planning and ecolodge design office in the world
and has a portfolio of projects in Madagascar, Egypt, China,
Saudi Arabia, India, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, DR Congo, Turks
and Caicos, Galapagos, Gabon, Fiji, Bahamas, St. Vincent
and the Grenadines, USA and Puerto Rico. Hitesh is one of
the world's leading authorities and researchers on ecotourism
physical planning and both the landscape architectural and
architectural aspects of ecolodges.
Apart from being an Adjunct Professor at several Universities
in Southern Florida, Hitesh regularly conducts research
on international trends in Ecolodges and is currently writing
a new book on Best Practice Ecolodges. Hitesh is also the
main editor of the International Ecolodge Guidelines and
the author of the chapters on "Site Planning"
and "Architectural Design". He sits on the Board
of The International Ecotourism Society, advisory board
of BIOSFERA (Brazilian Environmental Society) and is one
of the founding members of The Ecotourism Society of Kenya.
Hitesh is also the International Advisor for the Japan Ecolodge
Association.
Hitesh is a judge and on-site inspector for the Tourism
for Tomorrow awards, World Legacy Awards on Heritage Tourism
and Ecotourism (National Geographic/Conservation International)
and Ecotourism Awards (Conde Nast Traveler)
Hitesh is also a Professional Photographer and a Hall of
Fame Cricket Player from Kenya and was in September 2004
named by Men's Journal, a New York based Magazine as the
"25 Most Powerful People in Adventure" in the
world.
