Australian GeoTours has joined Ecotourism Australia
Ecotourism Australia is pleased to announce that Australian GeoTours has joined our membership as a new Business Member.
The Lake Eildon GeoTour is Australia’s first GeoTour and is located in one of the most feature-rich areas on our continent. Located a short drive from Melbourne, Lake Eildon is a large man-made fresh-water inland lake in Central Victoria.
The essence of a GeoTour is geocaching, which is a fairly new concept. It’s an outdoor recreational activity or game of searching for hidden objects by using Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates posted on the Internet. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. Geocaches can be found all over the world. They may be at your local park, at the end of a long hike, or even underwater. A video clip explaining geocaching can be found here: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/hq
Australian GeoTour is one of Australia’s most progressive geo communities, affording endless opportunities for the casual or serious geocacher. With a wide variety of cache types and difficulty levels, Lake Eildon is the perfect area to visit for a geocaching holiday.
The amount of activities and places of interest around the lake is enormous. For the great outdoors lovers there’s swimming, boating, fishing, bush walking, hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing; as well as seasonal snow skiing at some of Australia’s best alpine resorts. There is also camping, sightseeing, a local zoo with native wildlife, and a number of yet unspoilt spots around the lake.
Lake Eildon an ideal place for ecotourism lovers that are looking to try a still rather unknown outdoor activity.
We are glad to welcome Australian GeoTours to our Business Membership and wish them every success in their future endeavours.
