We need you!

Do you have a strong tourism or environmental background with at least 5 years’ experience at an owner, manager or consultant level?

Are you passionate about helping businesses achieve long-term, sustainable outcomes?


We are looking for companies, partnerships, trusts and individuals to become independent auditors to fulfil the requirements of our ever-growing Certification Programs.

Auditors are needed on a contract basis (approx. 20 days/year) in key hubs around Australia:

  • Northern Queensland (Cairns/Whitsundays)
  • Southern Queensland (Brisbane/Gold Coast)
  • New South Wales
  • Victoria
  • Tasmania
  • Western Australia – Perth/Margaret River
  • Western Australia – Broome/Exmouth
  • Northern Territory

Our independent auditors are responsible for conducting onsite audits of ecotourism operators that hold certification through one of our certification programs (ECO Certification, Climate Action Certification and Respecting our Culture Certification) on a contractual basis. As part of our obligations to the integrity of our programs and to our international and domestic stakeholders, auditing services must be contracted via a registered company, partnership or trust. Individuals who are not already a company, partnership or trust but who want to express interest in becoming an Independent Auditor, may refer to the Australian Government's business structures and types website for details on how to set up a company, partnership or trust.

Candidates should have at least 5 years’ experience in the tourism or environment industries (or both), preferably at a managerial, business ownership or consultant level. Auditing experience is preferred, but full online training will be provided at no cost.

Executive Officer | Australian Regional Tourism 

In recent months, Australian Regional Tourism has reviewed the role of the Executive Officer (EO) and is now calling for applications from suitably qualified applicants.

The EO will work with the Executive to deliver the Business Plan and manage the day to day operations of ART. The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • The delivery of the three major projects for 2018/19; a new-look Young Tourism Professional Program, a National Strategy and Program to grow Agritourism across Australia, and the annual Australian Regional Tourism Convention,
  • The implementation of the Communications & Memberships Strategy & Action Plan,
  • Managing strategic partnerships and corporate sponsorships,
  • Lobbying on behalf of ART members, 
  • Governance and administration 

To be successful in the role, applicants will need to demonstrate their ability to work autonomously, have excellent communication and time management skills, and experience managing multiple major projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will have a fierce passion for regional tourism and Australia, and experience in a similar position.

Commencing in March 2018, this is a 12 month contract position that will suit those who have a registered business and access to a home office or similar. The contract is for four to five days per week.
