It's a six day walk, travelling 65 kilometres through the heart of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. The Overland Track from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair is a true wilderness walk which travels through spectacular dolerite mountains, near beautiful waterfalls, through a variety of fascinating ecosystems and close to Tasmania s highest mountain, before finishing at Australia s deepest lake, Lake St Clair.
The Overland TrackThe Overland Track travels a distance of 65 kilometres through the heart of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. While easier access, improved track conditions and modern outdoor equipment have all made the trip far easier than it has been, the walk still demands a fair degree of preparation and physical fitness, and will take around five nights and six days. Bookings are required for each walking season (1 October to 31 May). During the walking season walkers will be required to walk the track from North to South (Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair), pay the Overland Track Fee, and have a current Parks Pass. Bookings open 1 July each year for the coming season.
