Australian Tourism Legend Robert Pennicott and his team of passionate local guides have been sharing Tasmania with travellers since 1999. Pennicott Wilderness Journeys has won multiple awards including 12 Australian Tourism Awards and 26 Tasmanian Tourism Awards. Pennicott Wilderness Journeys' new Bruny Island Cruises Visitor Centre is a significant investment in world’s best practice energy efficiency. Currently operating off grid and not drawing energy resources off Bruny Island, the facility houses 202 85 watt solar panels, 28 tonnes of batteries and a sophisticated electrical system as well as a back-up 220 KVA generator.” All water for cooking and drinking is captured rainwater and the company uses its own bore system for the rest of the building. Pennicott has also invested in a sophisticated toilet treatment system, with four complete independent systems to cope with the volume visitors and puts pure water back in to the ground.
