Choose from a three-hour loop walk with cooked breakfast, Rawnsley Bluff return walk (5-6 hours) or Wilpena Pound and Bridle Gap (7-8 hours). Your experienced local guides will introduce you to the unique plants and wildlife of Rawnsley Bluff. Learn how the ancient sea floor has been uplifted and subsequently eroded to create this amazing landscape.
On these 3 & 5-day walking tours, led by experienced guides, you’ll leave each day from Rawnsley Park Station to walk the most spectacular sections of the Flinders Ranges. Return each afternoon to your accommodation at Rawnsley Park, and dine in The Woolshed. Our walks are suited to people with good walking fitness and who can cover up to 21 kilometres a day. You will need only a day pack and there will be plenty of time for breaks and photographs. At times we will have some reasonably tough sections to climb, but the views are a fantastic reward for the effort.
Take a 4-hour guided tour of the 12,000-hectare Rawnsley Park Station and learn about sheep management in an arid range-land environment. First stop is the woolshed where the sheep are shorn and the wool sorted and baled prior to sale, followed by visits to water points that use solar powered bore pumps to provide water to stock. Make observations of the condition of the grazing animals, and check for signs of feral pests and predators.
Watch a brilliant Flinders Ranges sunset overlooking the Chace Range as you sip on local wine and enjoy delicious canapés prepared by the Woolshed Restaurant. The 40 minute drive through the property provides a great opportunity to see native wildlife unused to human encounters. Wilpena Pound provides a stunning backdrop to this two hour tour.
