Congratulations to our newest certified operator, Hervey Bay Dive Centre, for achieving Ecotourism Certification for their Swim with Whales Tour, Reef and Beach Eco Tour and Dive Tour Ex-HMAS Tobruk!

Hervey Bay Dive Centre is a family run business that thrives on living life to the fullest, which is evident in their action-packed services whether it be diving, snorkelling, swimming with whales or even just catching a water taxi to Fraser Island.  Their tours provide exclusive experiences to swim with one of nature’s most majestic mammals, the Humpback Whale and this is done with the utmost respect for the mammals and their environment.

Hervey Bay Dive Centre only takes a maximum of 12 people aboard their vessel and when operated at displacement speeds there is virtually no impact on the environment.  Their operations are based on providing an enjoyable and safe interaction between humans and whales, conducted in a way that promotes the message that any interaction is always on the whale’s terms and with respect for their environment.  Hervey Bay Dive Centre’s tours contain a high education awareness focus that informs visitors about the impacts currently affecting the Great Sandy Marine Park, detailing the amazing ecosystem and how guests can minimise their impact whilst visiting the region.

Hervey Bay Dive Centre also looks to actively promote marine conservation and ensure the sustainability of the natural environment, reduce emissions from the operation and from their guests and ensure their operation don’t create any long-term negative environmental impacts.

Congratulations once again to Hervey Bay Dive Centre for achieving Ecotourism Certification and welcome to the Ecotourism Australia family!
